My name is Arthur Gallego and I run a public relations agency here in New York, Gallego and Company. Today Iím going to show you how to write a news release. Itís something that any entrepreneur, anyone starting a business, or anyone in the marketing function can use on a daily basis.
The first big tip when writing a news release is to keep it brief and keep it precise. A typical release should really be one page and at a maximum, two, and the information should be very focused. The reason for this Ė is you want to deliver a very simple message to the media that you can build on later.
The second tip is the 5 Ws. Who, what, when, where and why. Every release should have this in the first two paragraphs. And hereís a really big tip, put the: who, what, when and where in the first paragraph and the why in the second. The why can be in the form of a testimonial or a quote from a manager/executive.
