Peter Miller, Literary & Film manager, talks about building an author's platform, which is becoming more and more important in publishing
Hi, my name is Peter Miller, Iím a New York based literary and film manager; Iíve sold over a thousand books. And I can assure you the most important thing today is not only writing a great super-duper book, but to have a platform. And whatís a platform? Do you have a website, do you have an e-zine, do you have a radio pod-cast or a video pod-cast on your website? Do you write a regular magazine column? Have you written hundreds of articles for and newspapers and magazines? If you havenít, you need to learn how to do this. One piece of free advice for you is to get famous people to endorse your work. Go to websites like, travelguidetoheaven.com or tenprayers.com, two books that I manage, and look at all the quotes for the author. You need to get quotes. Building a platform is the single most important thing you can do to get your book to fly in the market place and write a great book.
