Literary & Film manager peter miller discusses how to approach an agent and how to make yourself standout
Hi, my name is Peter Miller. I wrote a book called, Author Screenwriter, and I produced a movie called, Author Screenwriter. And Iíve been in business for over thirty years and have sold over a thousand books. Approaching an agent or a manager is going to be the most important decision you make in your career because I make people rich, Iíve made hundreds of people rich in the book and film business, and possibly, you could be one of those people.
Always be tremendously polite. Remember, you donít own you agent or manager; they take you on and invest in you because they believe in you. So be considerate and be aware of their time constraints. My phone doesnít stop ringing; I get a hundred emails a day, I donít want to get ten emails for you, unless of course we made a million dollars today, then you can send me a hundred emails.
So thank you very much. Remember: be very polite, work very closely with your agent or manager, and I wish you great success.
