It doesn’t matter if you start on an electric or an acoustic, eventually you’re going to get both. The acoustic guitar is wonderful because it’s a little better for your fingers, they’ll get stronger. The electric guitar is a lot of fun. So it doesn’t matter which one you start with. Mainly, get a name brand, Fender, Gibson, Martin, Takamini, they’re pretty good, and they play exactly the same. If you get an electric, you’re going to need an amp, I recommend the Rolands. Just try to find a major store like Sam Ash so incase there is something wrong with your guitar, they can handle it for you. They’ll be able to fix it or exchange it for you.
Ok, good luck. Look me up at www.martinbutlermusic.com. I give private lessons here in New York, occasionally I’m at the learning Annex in my Learn to Play Guitar with Martin Butler seminars. I hope you have a great time playing and I hope you have as much fun as I had.
