But, youíre MEAN! 3/12/2008

» Introduction
I find this a curious statement most of the time. If you donít get to know a person how can you make this assertion that they are mean? How does this perception get started?...
» Step 1
I find this a curious statement most of the time. If you donít get to know a person how can you make this assertion that they are mean? How does this perception get started?

I am bold, tenacious, beautiful and assertive! I believe in speaking the truth and not sugar coating life; I have however learned to temper what I am saying so I do not speak to sharply. I also do not like people who aspire to nonsense, that sometimes does not leave a lot to be desired.
» Step 2
The lesson that I have learned along the way is that it is just as important what you say and how it is presented. If you present your case in a way that is respectful, people can digest it easier. I like to let people know that they are valued. I might not like what you say, but I can respond in a dignified and professional manner that throws the person off. The expectation is I am going to be disrespectful and this is unexpected so the person generally calms down. The behavior deescalates if I stay calm and unaffected.
» Step 3
When do we as human beings do the right thing as opposed to what is fashionable? This is not a new question! I am so tired of people skirting around the issue because they do not want to step on anyoneís toes. Hell, step on them and mash then to pieces!!!

I am not perfect and do not profess to be, but we would be a lot happier if we did what was right and not play it so safe. People respect that more and will listen and make changes because of it. I canít lie to a person or let it go simply because I donít want to get involved.

» Step 4
Be kind and do not let our fellow humans destroy themselves because you are weak to the truth. I know it takes a little more to get involved then to walk away.

Being the Queen of Mean translates like this, I know how to set limits and boundaries. I love and like myself. I can be me and it doesnít matter if you like me or not. That is your issue! I do not engage in unhealthy relationships.
» Step 5
It isnít always about me and I know the difference. I respect myself, therefore so do others. I sometimes stand alone, not because I have to but, because I want to. I like and enjoy my own company.

The moral of this article is the importance of taking care of you. Donít let people use and abuse you because of your lack of self esteem and poor image. We all want to be loved and liked but it is not essential to lose your soul trying to find it.
