Turning Over Tables

» Introduction
Are there some tables that you need to overturn in your life? Are you robbing yourself of the life that you could have? So often we get in our own way and we rob ourself of the very dreams that we desire. Jesus Christ was a man of passion and He wasn’t afraid to turn over the tables that got in His way.
» Step 1
His story is not about violence; it was about achieving a mission and taking a stand for what is right. Before we embark on a mission to overturn those destructive tables that others put in our way we need to look inside ourself and make sure that we are not setting up “tables” in our own life that are robbing us from our dreams. I have personally set up many “tables” in my own life that prevented me from achieving the dreams that I desired. So many times I got frustrated and looked for excuses instead of looking in the mirror and taking responsibility for my own actions. The reality is that we all have. The good news is that it doesn’t have to continue.
In Matthew 21:13 you will notice that Christ calls His house a house of prayer—it was sacred. It was a place to hold in high esteem and to give reverence to the King of Kings. In order to take your life to a new level you must understand that just like the house of prayer your life is sacred. You have to drive out the things that are preventing you from achieving your mission in life. This is not easy; it takes courage! It takes a strong overriding desire that will influence you to overcome the most challenging obstacle that you will ever face—yourself. I am completely convinced that your greatest challenge in life will not be other people—it will be you. Self-control will be the foundation that will equip you to become what you were designed to be. Self-control is achieved by applying true north principles. These principles will always point you in the right direction no matter what the terrain is like. 2 Peter 1:5-7 provides the best overview of what these characteristics consist of:
“5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.”
Whether you are a Bible believing Christian or not how can you deny the significance of building on a foundation of faith by adding goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love to your life. Do you think you could make a positive difference if these characteristics were a part of your life everyday? Do you think that you would be one step closer to not just success but significance? Do you think you would be a better husband or wife? Do you think you would be a better boss or employee? Do you think you would be a better teacher or student? The answer to these questions is an undeniable YES! This doesn’t mean that you won’t face challenges but it does mean that those challenges will not keep you down. It means that the adversities that you face will not long remain because you will persevere and find a solution. There are some of you that will read this article today and it will be life changing. There will be something inside of you that will awaken and you will step forward in courage—you will break those shackles and overturn those “tables” that have been robbing you of the life that you’ve always dreamed of. For those of you who make this decision I congratulate you because you have decided to live a Better-than-Great life.
