The voice is a wind instrument and needs a strong breath to support it. This lesson gives the viewer a easy valuable example of how to strengthen your voice.
Hi. Iím Joni Wilson, and Iím going to give you a simple exercise that is going to completely change the way you use your voice. Anyone can sing - that means you. Singing is like playing an instrument. Once you learn to do it correctly, the beautiful music is a given. And like any wind instrument, a strong, steady voice begins and ends with strong, steady breath. So hereís your exercise. Place your finger on your abdominal diaphragm, right here. Stick out your tongue and pant like a dog. Keep it steady with long breaths, and do not move your shoulders. Remember - dogs can bark all night long and never lose their voice, simply because they put breath in front of sound. Now, add your own sound. The secret is, breath must come first. You ready? Haa - haa - haa. Practice. 95% of all vocal problems that come through my studio door are due to inadequate breath. So keep on panting. For more information, go to virtualvoicecoach.com.
