Get the ball under control so you can shoot, pass or dribble. These easy techniques will help you practice.
Today, I’m going to teach you in one minute, how to control a bouncing ball. The idea of this is to stop a ball on the ground, make it easier to pass, to play, what ever you need to do.
In preparation for this, we’re going to learn to balance on our left foot - we’re going to get comfortable. So, I can bend my knee slightly, I can balance, I can lift my right foot which is my kicking leg, move it around comfortably. Now, what I’m going to do, I’m going to drop the ball, and with my laces, I’m going to aim to get my foot just under the ball - about a half an inch off the ground. Let’s see how it goes, ready – and drop it, control it. The ball is now safe on the floor.
I would repeat that ten times, see if you feel comfortable. If not, keep repeating until you do feel comfortable. Once you are comfortable, we make it a little more difficult. We going to throw the ball just above head height, let it bounce one time, and attempt to do the same thing. So, here we go. Hands above the head - once bounce and stop it. In order to do this well, I now have to learn to move my feet and then get more balance.
If you want to make it more difficult, throw it higher.
