Communication expert and Acting for Non-Actors Coach, Arthur Reel, teaches how to conquer your the verbal crutches that cripple your communication skills!
Arthur Reel, Artistic Director of Drama Committee Repertory Theater, a professional company, Iím going to discuss crutches with you. You know what a crutch is, a person walking on a crutch like thisÖ
When you have fears, whatever the fears are, that you wonít be excepted, that people will judge you. You begin to reach in, without realizing it, to crutches.
One big one is blanking out. Another other one is editing, looking what to say. A third one is not having a choice, a decision. A fourth one is rushing, and a fifth one is over statement, like youíre not sure if youíre finished.
The best thing to do if you over-state, speak very shortly, in a very terse manner. Itíll feel very strange, but do it that way. When you speed, well you know what, you need to slow down.
Now, I am on my website powerfulcommunications.com and Iíve enjoyed speaking with you.
