Therapy, counseling, coaching or "getting help" is something well all need from time to time. There is no shame in asking for or getting help to deal with difficult circumstances -- relationships, life issues, grief, etc.
My name is Diann Hughes. Iím a clinical social worker, MSW - Mastersí in Social Work, and I want to talk to you today about needing therapy. Itís okay if you need therapy or counseling. Sometimes we have circumstances in our lives that we canít control, that we didnít cause. You may lose a job, you may lose a loved one, a mother, father, sister or brother or just a very close friend, and itís hard to cope. And itís okay to go get counseling. Itís okay to get therapy, to get a coach, to get somebody to help you through those hard times. And itís very important that you do that. If you broke a leg or an arm, you would go to the doctor to get it reset, so whatís wrong with getting help with your emotions? If youíre finding yourself crying a lot, being depressed, not having any joy in the things that you used to enjoy in life, get some help. God bless. Youíre important! Take care of yourself. Get the help you need.
