Parenting is often about, “How do I empower my child?” How would you like to empower your child so they are incapable of being abducted by someone? You play a game where when your children come up to your car, you basically put your finger in the form of a gun and say, “Get in the car”. And you train your child that if that ever happens, they are supposed to scream and run to safety, where ever that is – a large group of people, to the teacher’s office. And you play this game at school. First at school, so they get the habit of it – you pull up, they know it’s you, but you play the safety game. And if they get in the car and you have the gun pointed, they get punished. So they’ve got to scream and run, and you let the teacher’s know that you’re going to play this game. Pretty soon, you actually get a plastic gun, and you play the game like you have a real gun, and you point it at them and say, “Get in the car” and they scream and run.
Eventually, what you could actually do is have someone that the children don’t even know, pull up, point a plastic gun at them and say, “Get in the car” and they’ve got to scream and run. Can you see how this would keep your children from being abducted? It’s a very powerful tool and takes a lot of courage, but it’ll work.
